Bar Kyoraku, nestled within Hyakkendana in Shibuya’s Dogenzaka district. Located in an area that could be called the origin of Shibuya’s cultural evolution, this music bar was designed as a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional Japanese aesthetics. The layout minimizes the presence of structural columns and maintains a simple composition. By placing the turntable along the same axis as the bar counter, the design creates a natural sense of unity where drinks and music intertwine seamlessly. Throughout the space, elements of traditional Japanese design are subtly integrated. The sofa back, inspired by shoji screens, catches the light to create a soft depth, while the bar counter, clad in kawara tiles, gains richness and character over time. Behind the bar, a tokonoma-style alcove introduces a sense of function and form that transcends mere decoration. These materials and arrangements interact with Shibuya’s urban atmosphere, shaping a distinctive spatial experience. The red light that envelops the walls amplifies the density of the moment, illuminating a 200-year-old wooden Daruma mold at the center of the space. Its powerful and dignified presence anchors the room as its spiritual core. Amid the interplay of resonant sound and red light, the space takes on a rhythm of its own—stimulating the senses of those who enter. It is our hope that this place will become a new cultural magnet in Shibuya, accumulating depth and value as time passes.
渋谷・道玄坂の百軒店にたたずむ「Bar享楽」。渋谷の発展における源流とも呼ぶべきこの地に、日本の様式美を現代の空間に再解釈したミュージックバーを設計した。 レイアウトは、区画内の柱型を目立たせずシンプルにまとめ、バーカウンターの延長線上にターンテーブルを据えることで、酒と音楽が自然に交わる一体感を生み出している。 意匠には、日本の伝統美を随所に取り入れた。障子を模したソファバックは光を受けて柔らかな奥行きをつくり、瓦タイルのバーカウンターは経年とともに質感を深めていく。更に、バーバックには床の間の様式を採用し、単なる装飾にとどまらない、機能を兼ね備えた意匠とした。こうした素材や設えが渋谷の空気と交わり、 独自の空間体験を形づくっている。 壁面を包み込む赤い光は、濃密な時間を演出しつつ、 空間の中心に据えた約二百年前の木型の達磨を赤色に染め上げる。 時を経ても力強く、威厳を放つ姿を、空間の核として際立たせた。 響き渡る音楽と赤い光が交錯する中で、空間はひとつのリズムをまとい、訪れる人々の感覚を刺激する。この場が渋谷の新たな文化的磁場として根付き、時と共に価値を重ねていくことを期待する。
